Yoga can help you trim your waist and reduce belly fat, according to a recent study. Researchers from Harvard University and the University of Hong Kong did a systematic review to see if yoga, a popular practice in India, could help people reduce belly fat. They keyed in on the effects of yoga on the body’s fat tissue, known as adipose tissue, and if yoga can reduce belly fat.
Can Yoga Help Trim My Waist and Reduce Belly Fat? | I would not be writing for you if I had not experienced first-hand the benefits of yoga. Yoga is absolutely a wonderful way to improve your health and can help you lose weight. The post also talks about who yoga is good for and how you can lose weight with yoga.
Embrace the idea of “mindful movement” and embrace the idea that when you move, you are not just moving your body, but also your mind. When you move your body, you are going to be more mindful of your breath, your body, your surroundings, and how you feel.
It’s no secret that I’m a fan of books. For example, the big one.My water bottle has the names of famous writers on it instead of measurements. I use Goodreads more often than Facebook. The last time I moved, a friend came to visit and saw that I only had about ten books on my shelf, and he couldn’t believe that was all I had. (Spoiler: It wasn’t. It was just the last of the stuff shipped from my old house).
So it was only a matter of time before I found a way to combine yoga and reading. These seven yoga poses are ideal if you don’t want to get up off the floor, but do want to practice throughout the day.
1. Installation of the Sphinx
I always hover in the sphinx position when I read. That trick in the back is so wonderful when you’re in a good story.
Lie on your stomach with the book in front of you and rest your forearms on the floor so that your elbows are directly under your shoulders. Breathe up and down with your shoulders and read on!
Let go for 3-5 breaths, or as long as you feel comfortable if you’re in a particularly juicy area.
2. Feet on the wall
He’s another favorite. I could sit here for hours reading, reading, reading.
Find a free spot on the wall and lie on your back. Press your belly against the wall and, as you inhale, lift your legs above you so that they are against the wall.
Just be careful not to drop the book on your face.
3. Posture of the lotus
Lotus pose, light pose, hero pose… Almost any sitting position is suitable. This is a classic reading position!
If you decide to read in the lotus position, first take a comfortable seat. Gently grasp one leg and pull it up to the opposite hip crease. Do the same with the other leg. If you feel pain or tension in your knees, you should leave this pose and do Sukhasana instead.
Reading is almost a meditation, isn’t it?
4. Child’s posture
It’s kind of a modified child’s pose, so you’re not literally nose in a book.
Start with the downward facing dog pose, lying on the floor with the book open. Lower your knees gently to the floor and support with your hips over your ankles. Extend your arms before bending your elbows and bringing your hands under your chin.
Then come back for this amazing exhibit!
5. Frog pose
If you’ve been sitting in your favorite reading chair for too long and your hips are tense, do the frog pose without grabbing your bookmark.
Start the table pose and slowly bring your legs under your hips as far as you can without straining. Your feet should be angled so that the insides of your feet rest on the floor. Lower yourself gently onto your forearms.
Stay here for a while, either for five breaths or until the action calms down a bit.
6. stomach turn
It’s bedtime, but can’t you put the book down? I know the feeling. Try the rugrol pose, or as I call it, I should stop reading but it’s so good, but I really need to put the book down.
Lie on your back with your feet on the floor and your knees bent. As you inhale, bring your knees above your stomach, and as you exhale, begin to lower them to your sides. Keep your shoulders straight. Extend your arms (and the book) out to the sides and try to put the book on the nightstand (without any particular effort).
7. Installation of the chair
No chair? No problem.
Start reading (see what I did there? Ha!) to feel the fire! Without leaving your seat, assume a mountain pose. Bring your big toes together, but keep your heels apart, as if you were putting a small piece of pizza between your feet. Bend your knees as you exhale, as if trying to sit in a chair that isn’t really there.
Make sure your knees are aligned so that one knee does not move in front of the other. Stay there until you feel burnt or until someone takes pity on you and brings you a good reading chair.
