Coconut butter is not to be confused with coconut oil; although the two are similar, coconut butter has a richer, more fulsome feel. It also reacts to heat differently and, at normal temperature, remains solid (unlike coconut oil).

Coconut butter, like nut butters, is simple to prepare at home. Purchase a bag of unsweetened (full-fat) coconut and mix it for 5-10 minutes in a food processor or blender (the time depends on the power of your appliance). Transfer it to a mason jar or another sealed container after it’s creamy and smooth.

Coconut butter should be kept in the refrigerator. Refrigeration isn’t a good idea. It’s worth noting that coconut oil may separate, resulting in a white, solid top layer. If this occurs, just whisk in the coconut oil and combine everything with a spoon (this is a similar to the oil separation of natural peanut butter). If you’re having difficulty mixing it, try warming it in the microwave for 5 to 10 seconds.

Coconut butter may be made with little to no effort. You may need to soften the coconut butter in the microwave for up to 10 seconds depending on the time of year or climate you reside in. You may spread it on toast, use it in dishes, eat it with fruit, or use it in desserts after it’s soft enough to handle.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Treats (recipe)

Coconut Butter

These are the ideal treat for anybody who like the flavors of peanut butter and chocolate. The gooey texture and rich peanut chocolate flavor will wow your taste senses!

butter made from coconut 1/2 cup peanut butter (natural) (cashew or almond butter are alternatives) 1 cup peanuts, crushed (crushed cashews or almonds are alternatives) 1 cup honey, creamed cocoa powder (1/2 cup) 1 cup of water a quarter cup

15-minute prep time Time to cook: 0 minutes 20-24% yield

Microwave the coconut butter for 20 seconds or until very soft in a microwave-safe bowl.

In a high-powered blender or food processor, combine all ingredients except the crushed peanuts. Blend until completely smooth. Pulse in the smashed peanuts to incorporate them. If you don’t have access to a high-powered blender or food processor, combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and well combine.

Note: If you want to make these sweets even more chocolaty, add additional 1-2 tbsp cocoa powder (use a high quality cocoa powder for the best flavor).

Wax paper should be used to line two cookie pans. Fill a piping bag with the batter and a big tip. Pipe out bite-sized chocolate kisses with care (note: that they will look different depending on which piping tip you select).

Allow 3-4 hours in the fridge or freezer before serving (note: these will be somewhat mushy in the fridge; if you prefer a more firm consistency, put them in the freezer – they also make a wonderful frozen treat).

Keep leftovers in the refrigerator or freezer.
