My overall experience with Nature’s Base Probiotics 70 billion CFUs was NOT very good and only seemed to get worse as it progressed. It is very popular on Amazon and has the coveted Amazon Choice Special. It has 4.6 out of 5 stars with 1,540 reviews. I try to test a lot of probiotics sold on Amazon, since many of us get our supplements there (and basically all of our life’s necessities). But I have so many questions and concerns about this product and brand, and over time I have learned from experience that you have to be VERY careful about buying products from Amazon sellers. We rely so much on Amazon reviews that we tend to focus on brands that have Amazon’s seal of approval (which is not in our best interest at all). So we have to be careful, because they want our wallet, not our well-being. The brand only has 2 products on Amazon and on the actual website, which is not very encouraging. There’s a sticker on the bottle that says: Request an additional free bottle at freeprobiotic.org. The website works, and it’s shocking that they actually send you a free bottle if you rate them well on Amazon. Some customers didn’t even receive their free bottle after filling out all the information and comments. But that does explain why they have so many 5 star reviews. It’s just one great review after another, and they’re all 5 stars. This should be an important red flag when you want to buy an item online. Always look at both sides of the spectrum and examine the negative comments. Many people have terrible experiences, very bad side effects or no improvement in their health. These probiotics didn’t help me at all, and frankly, I felt out of place when I took them. My biggest concern is that the seal under the cap was broken when I received my bottle. I didn’t think about it because I didn’t think the glue was very strong. But now I’m really worried because many people have gotten bottles with broken joints. Some sent their bottles back and even the replacement bottles had broken seals! To make matters worse, many customers have reported that capsules were missing and the original 30 capsules were missing! This leads to many problems with safety, quality control and a general distrust of the company and the product. I could go on and on, but Nature’s Base Probiotics is a big deal! Please don’t buy it. The formula itself is overwhelming and contains too many strains and CFEs, which does more harm than good. It says there are Lactobacillus acidophilus, how many, we don’t know. But I really like this strain because it has been proven to help in many areas, e.g. lowering cholesterol, preventing diarrhea, improving symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), treating and preventing vaginal infections, possibly reducing weight and reducing allergies. Unfortunately, it also contains one of my least favorite strains, Bacillus coagulans. It is known to form spores in the body, which in turn cause unpleasant side effects such as flatulence, bloating and abdominal pain. It also contains 100 mg of prebiotic FOS fiber, which is actually more than I usually see in supplements. Too much prebiotic fiber can also have negative side effects. Allergic diseases No severe allergic reactions to this probiotic have been reported. The bottle says it contains NO hormones, preservatives, antibiotics, yeast, soy, sugar, artificial ingredients or flavors. Other ingredients include: Rice flour, hypromellose (vegetable capsule), magnesium stearate and gellan gum. Price/cost On Amazon, a bottle of Nature’s Base probiotics costs $19.95. They should contain 30 capsules, which costs about 66 cents a day. However, a big concern is that many people were cut off online and did not get the full 30 capsules from the bottle. I made the mistake of not counting mine when I first got them (because it shouldn’t be their job??). An even more alarming sign is that many people have received bottles with a broken seal under the cork! When I got mine, it certainly wasn’t completely sealed. I didn’t pay too much attention to it because the Arizona heat sometimes melts the glue or adhesive. But now I am concerned about quality control and safety. So whatever the price is, it’s not worth it, so save your money! With this probiotic, one problem follows another! Side effects For me, this supplement falls into the category of powerful probiotics. It is really strong and very powerful: 70 billion CFU, 10 strains and FOS. As we have seen, more is not always better, and high potency can lead to bad side effects. To my surprise, I didn’t notice or experience any unpleasant side effects. This makes me suspicious, because a drug this powerful should have side effects, at least at first. I felt absolutely no difference and saw NO benefit in taking it. When this happens, I feel like there is little or no viable bacteria in the probiotic. I desperately rely on probiotics to treat IBS, bloating, constipation, abdominal pain, food allergies, vaginal health and immune system support. All my problems were terrible and this product did not help me at all. They claim it promotes gut health, eliminates leaky gut, weight loss, anxiety, constipation, gas reduction and bloating. None of this was true for me. I looked at reviews from other buyers on Amazon, and many of them had the same experience as me, namely that the product didn’t work at all. Others have had very serious side effects and their initial problems were much worse. One person even ended up in the emergency room because of it, wow! Seriously, this is so important!
