One of the ways Ahimsa Yogi’s children talk about their experiences is by participating in Yoga Kids Spotlight. One of the students, Kinga, was asked why she likes doing yoga. She replied: I love doing yoga because it helps calm me down and makes me happy. I’ve been doing yoga for three years now. If I were a doctor, I would prescribe it to all those who are tired and don’t know what to do with themselves. Thinking about starting a children’s yoga program at your studio? Kim recommends taking classes at a yoga school for children rather than adapting her yoga experience as an adult to teach children. Although she recommends YogaKids International certification, there are many trainings and workshops available to better understand teaching children. If you teach in your studio, Kim recommends limiting the age group of each class to a few years, and she thinks the best time to teach children and teens is late afternoon. Once you have established a children’s yoga program in your studio, expand your business. Create a website or add a program tab to an existing page. Create your program with weekly classes, summer camps or special events. Find your target audience (for example, your studio community, parents of a local scout group, or coordinate with school principals).
